Illinois: driver-adjacent window tint is conditional

  • Windshield: non‑reflective tint may not extend more than 6 inches from the top.
  • Windows immediately adjacent to the driver: allowed only under specific combinations of rear-window transmittance.

If the windows behind the driver are treated darker than the above thresholds, the driver‑adjacent windows may not be tinted under 625 ILCS 5/12‑503(a‑5).
