Windshield Above AS-1 line (or top 5") — ≥25% VLT; ≤25% reflectance; no red/amber/blue. Clear UV film allowed anywhere.
Front side windows ≥25% VLT ≥25% VLT

  • Law measurement basis: NET
  • Reflectivity (front / back): ≤25% / ≤25%
  • Colors / notes: Red/amber/blue not allowed on windshield sunscreening devices.
  • Mirrors: Dual outside mirrors required if rear window tint is used with no VLT limit.
  • Film certification: N/S
  • Sticker / label: Label required (one label on driver’s side window, rearmost bottom corner).
  • Medical exemptions: Yes (signed physician/optometrist statement; DPS no longer issues certificates as of 2019).
  • Tolerance:

Texas note: Side windows behind the driver are exempt under the Texas Transportation Code; the rear window is unrestricted only if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides.
