GEORGIA WINDOW TINT LAW ALLOWS
THE FOLLOWING DARKNESS FOR CAR
WINDOW TINTING

The darkness of tint is measured by (VLT%) Visible Light Transmission
percentage. In Georgia window tint law, this percentage refers to
percentage of visible light allowed to pass through the combination
of film and the factory tint of the window.

Here is what is allowed in Georgia window tint law:

Cars, Trucks and MPVs *Note: MPV means Multi Passenger Vehicles
which are Vans and SUVs

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top
6 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than a total of 32% light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than a total of 32% light in.
*(MPVs allow any light transmission)
Rear Window Must allow more than a total of 32% light in.
*(MPVs allow any light transmission)

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE ON
AUTO WINDOWS ACCORDING TO GEORGIA
WINDOW TINT LAW?

Tinting film can contain metallic elements (silver mirror look) that help to
reflect incoming light and reject the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows Must not be more than a total of
20% reflective (silver mirror look).
Back Side Windows Must not be more than a total of
20% reflective (silver mirror look).

OTHER GEORGIA RULES AND REGULATIONS

Restricted Colors The tint colors of Red and Amber are
not allowed by state law.
Side Mirrors No restrictions.
Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to
certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker Requirements No sticker to identify legal tinting is required.
Medical Exemption Georgia window tint law allows medical
exemptions for special tint. For more details
about the specific terms of the exemption
for window tinting, consult your state law.
